What are the different IP ratings?
IP Rating Reference Chart
IP Rating | First Digit – SOLIDS |
---|---|
IP66 | Protected from total dust ingress. |
IP67 | Protected from total dust ingress. |
IP68 | Protected from total dust ingress. |
IP69K | Protected from total dust ingress. |
What is the difference between IP43 and IP44?
Protected from water spray less than 15 degrees from vertical. IP43 Protected from tools and small wires greater than 1 millimeter. Protected from water spray less than 60 degrees from vertical. IP44 Protected from tools and small wires greater than 1 millimeter.
What is IP56 rating?
E.g. IP56 = Protected against harmful dust (first digit) with protection from strong water jets and no harmful effects of strong water jets from all directions (second digit).
Is IP66 better than IP65?
The main difference between IP65 and IP66 ratings is their level of protection against liquid ingress. An IP66 enclosure can handle a significantly higher level of pressurized water spray, from larger nozzles and at higher kPa ratings.
What is the highest IPX rating?
The first number after IP indicates a model’s resistance to being compromised solid foreign objects, such as dust and dirt. The number range runs from zero to six, with IP1X being the lowest level of resistance and IP6X being the highest. IP0X means that no protection is offered.
Is IP44 OK for outside use?
IP44 is generally OK for common garden use and standard weather. These are specifically made to be very hard wearing against weather and are also rust and corrosion free. This is even backed up with a lifetime guarantee against corrosion.
What do waterproof ratings mean?
Waterproof ratings are measured in millimetres (mm) and usually fall anywhere from 800mm to 10,000 mm. These figures indicate the amount of water pressure a fabric can withstand. That means a tent with a 2,000mm rating will endure a 2,000mm or two metre column of water bearing down on it before it starts to leak.
What is IP54 standard?
A product with an IP54 rating is protected against dust ingress sufficient to prevent the product from operating normally but it’s not dust tight. The product is fully protected against solid objects and splashing of water from any angle.
