Where is the fuel line return on a 2003 Mercedes?
It’s part# XXXXX fuel pump A211-470-45-94 & fuel sending unit A211-470-49-94 (vin#A715197 on). There is a fuel line return for this pair that doesn’t seem to connect anywhere. On the ’03 system, the fuel line return connects to a Y-tube and the two other ends connects to the two fuel pumps.
Where are the connectors for the fuel pump?
Regarding the electrical connectors to the fuel pump, the connector on the right passenger side (fuel pump assembly) is a 5-pin female connector. On the left side driver side (fuel filter/sending unit) it is a 3-pin and a 2-pin connector, so two connections.

What happens when the fuel pump is not working?

(Note* – if one owns a W211 E55 AMG, this is not the fuel pump relay, it is the heat exchanger cooling pump relay.) Remove the fuel pump replay. Connect a fused jumper wire between the terminals indicated by red arrows. The inset photo shows the fused jumper in place. This will activate your fuel pump.

Upon first smelling gas in the cabin, I found out that the electrical connector that connects to the fuel pump on the right rear side under the seat overheats and the plastic of the connector on the fuel pump cover melts, thus allowing gas to puddle up outside the tank.
Where is the fuel pump relay on a Mercedes?
The fuel pump relay is located in the rear sam I believe. The fuse and relay chart is located on the driver’s side dash only accessible with the driver’s door open. You can use a small platic wedge or flat blade screwdriver to pop the cover off being careful not to scratch the dash.
