How are shocks adjusted on a Polaris snowmobile?
The rougher the trail and harder it is ridden, the firmer the dampening is, the smoother the trail or slower ridding the softer the dampening. This is all done by the design of the shocks internal parts. Front shock springs can be adjusted by hand if you remove all the weight from the front of the sled and have lots of time to turn them.
Can a Kill Switch be removed from a snowmobile?
Sometimes the switches themselves go kaput too. On one of my older Indy’s I just pulled the kill switch and snipped the wires going to the throttle switch and was done with it. The switch is a great idea for an inexperienced rider but when they malfunction they can be a PITA. You should only remove the switch if you are comfortable doing so.

The sled is a 1999 700 XC SP. 2 cyl no exhaust valve , liquid cooled. I usually don’t bother warming it up ,if you don’t have a heated garage; just change the oil again in 50 miles.
How do you change ski pressure on a Polaris XC?
The preffered method for changing ski pressure under steady throttle or full throttle conditions is by changing spring preload on the front shocks. Limiter straps only affect ski pressure during acceleration, but do have a large impact. x2 on cleaning the exhaust valves, they build up with gunk after a while and hinder performance.

New question, On our new (used) Polaris sleds 600 & 700 xc – I wanted to check the chain case oil so I pulled the dipstick and found a ton of crap on the stick, looks like black mud with metal filings in it! Checked the other sled- same thing! I decided to go to the shop where I bought them and checked a bunch of sleds and found the same crap!
