Is the KTM 990 Supermoto t available in the US?
Although big-bore Katoom Supermotos have been available in Europe all along, we Yanks had to wait until 2010 for a fresh batch. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, KTM now offers Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde: the T model for fast-paced, lightweight touring and the R model for hard-edged street warfare.
Where are the alarm plugs on the 990 adventures?
Orange = KTM Part Number Alarm System: There are two connectors near the top of the airbox on 990 Adventures. One is a small (white) two conductor plug that connects to a switch for the glovebox lid, and a larger dark brown or black 14 conductor connector that plugs into the alarm module if you have one.
Are there any known issues with the KTM 950 / 990?
Symptoms: overheating, impeller wearing on cover, black residue in coolant/tank. (if your impeller wasn’t worn this was not your issue) repair was to replace impeller and properly fit circlip. We are still seeing this from time to time. In one reported case, the inner bearing retaining circlip (0472240120 CIRCLIP DIN472 D=24X1,2) was missing.
How to fix torque limiter on KTM Super Twins?
If the Freewheel starts slipping on the early bikes, the only fix is a new rotor/freewheel assembly PN 60039005100. It is recommended that the cause of the kickback be fixed and the new torque limiter PN 60040016044 be fitted at the same time as the new rotor/flywheel.
When did the KTM 950 / 990 Tech Bulletin come out?
A Tech Bulletin was issued on October 16, 2004 that addresses this issue. Since it is such a critical item, it is suggested that ALL 950/990 owners check their bikes as instructed in the TB. Note: Be sure to use Locktite 648 as instructed.
