Hyundai refuse to cover the cost even though in the USA, Canada and South Korea 2010/2011 Hyundai Sonatas (identical to the i45) have been recalled over safety concerns for the exact same fault. I also know of many other i45s in Australia which this has happened to. I would definitely not recommend buying this car or any Hyundai. Similar opinion?

You might be able to source a replacement engine from a wreckers (3 i45s wrecking on ebay atm) and have it transported to an independent garage for them to fit it… still not cheap but better than the dealer option. In the US the I45 is called a sonata.
