Is the Festival of the Lakes free?
Festival of the Lakes, one of the Region’s signature summer festivals, is returning to the Pav at Wolf Lake this year. The free summer festival will take place July 14-18, Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott announced on his Left of Center Podcast Friday.
How much does the Festival of the Lakes cost?
All ages are welcome. There is no fee for general admission to the Festival. Festival happens rain or shine. Everyone is subject to a security search.
Can you swim in Wolf Lake Indiana?
Wolf Lake is not the source of drinking water for Indiana communities. “While swimming is restricted at Wolf Lake most of the year, it will be open for Leon’s,” said Mayor McDermott of the event founded in 1983 and moved to Wolf Lake in 1988 during Mayor McDermott father’s administration.

Is Wolf Lake clean?
Surprisingly, it is a very clean lake; some scientist believe that is because the factories that sit on one of Wolf Lake’s inflows filter the water they use for cooling before letting it flow into the lake. Flushing the lake this way may actually contribute to its health.
Where did pierogi come from?

Pierogi arrived on Polish territories in the 13th century. The were probably imported from the Far East via eastern neighbors such as Kievian Rus (today’s Ukraine) perhaps thanks to Hyacinth of Poland (a monk in a Kiev monastery who became patron saint of pierogi).
Why is Wolf Lake called Wolf Lake?
History. Wolf Lake was platted in 1836, taking its name from the nearby eponymous lake.
