Is the battery on my 1999 Lexus RX300 dead?
I tried the search but couldn’t find anything that matches. My parents have a 1999 rx300 with a dead battery (they were gone for 40 days). The battery was disconnected and charged.

Ah. sorry for not being specific. They left an ES330 and RX300 in the garage when they went on a trip (1.5 months). When they got back, both cars were completely dead. I believe the alarm system was disarmed (i.e. doors unlocked) when he popped the hood to access the battery. He then disconnected the battery and charged it for a day.

I have the same problem with my 2001 rx, at first just thought to be an old battery. Bought an optima yellow top stuck it in turn right on. 2days go by and now does not turn on some power is there and it seems like it does want to turn on but doesn’t.

What to do if your Lexus battery goes bad?
If you search over at Club Lexus you will get a lot of hits but no real solutions. My first thought would be to try another battery. Even if you just disconnect the RX battery and run jumper wires from another car for a test.
