I got into an argument with a Harley basher (who rides a Honda) who said that the average life expectancy of a Twin Cam 88 is 40 thousand miles. I argued, but had nothing to back it up. I’ve owned three Harley’s and never had any engine (or trans) problems, but none of them have gone over 25K before I bought the next.

How many cams are in an 88’s?
Had an 88″ in here once with 131,000 on the clock, that was never opened. Need cam chain shoes/parts. Valve job, port work, bored the cylinders to 95″ with a used set of 203 take-off cams……….last we knew if had over 180,000 on it. Those ole 88’s are tuff as nails .
