Highlander Orientation is moving online for summer 2021! During this two-day mandatory orientation, you’ll learn about UCR’s campus and traditions, talk with academic advisers, schedule classes, discover ways to get involved, connect with other first-year students, and more!
Is UCR orientation in person?
Highlander Orientation will be held remotely for 2021. Attending the mandatory Highlander Orientation program is a provision of UC Riverside admission. Failure to attend will result in the revoking of a student’s admission to the University.
How much is UCR orientation?
The Highlander Orientation fee for incoming first-year students is $110. The registration fee will be billed to student’s Fall Statement of Account in August. Payment is due Sept. 15, 2021.
What is a Highlander mascot UCR?
Though numerous nominations for a campus mascot “including Rocks, Tigers, and Aphids” were presented to UCR’s charter students in 1954, “Hylander” emerged from a spirited write-in campaign. Later changed to “Highlander,” the theme acknowledged the campus’ elevation relative to the rest of the city.

Does UCR have a dress code?
No jeans, medical scrubs, swim attire, pants with rivets or zippers, or any material deemed to damage equipment is not permitted. A top, bottoms, and closed-toed athletic shoes (non-marking soles) are required. No boots, open-toed shoes, or high heels allowed.
