How does the fuel gauge work on a motorcycle?
The fuel causes hydrostatic pressure measured by the sensor. The data from this pressure sensor are evaluated by a microcomputer, which compares it to the data in its memory (the memory is set up during calibration) and then shows the current amount of fuel on the display. Therefore, you don’t need any float or other modification to the fuel tank.
Why is my Gu IV fuel gauge not reading?
Surely if the low level light doesn’t work either it has to be more likely the sender or wiring than the gauge. So if you have replaced the sender have you tracked back through and tested the wiring. Can a fuel gauge be used without a float?
Universally usable Fuel gauge that allows to measure the fuel level without need of the float in fuel tank! Device is designed to measure hydrostatic pressure in fuel hosing. Device can be calibrated to compensate the shape of the fuel tank and shows real amount of fuel in the tank.
Why is my fuel gauge on the sub tank?
The sub tank really doesn’t have anything to do with the main fuel gauge. Does the sub tank gauge also play up? What part of the fuel sender unit did you replace? It’s possible it could be a faulty gauge but I would be surprised if it is.

When do you do the fuel sender test?
The fuel sender test should be conducted when the tank is lower than HALF, to prevent fuel splashing. Start by making sure the plug is clean, dry, and free of corrosion. Make sure the pins are straight and that the connector is fully seated. Remove the fuel pump module so you can manipulate the float arm.
Why does my gas gauge always say full?
When the vehicle is in motion, the sending unit is in constant motion, constantly rubbing the variable resistor. Over time, the contacts can wear, leading to an open circuit. The gas gauge might interpret voltage feedback from a dead sender as FULL or EMPTY, consequently pegging the gauge no matter the actual fuel level.
