How do you travel cross country plants?
Take small plants out of their containers and wrap the root bases in damp newspaper. Place in a plastic food-storage bag and seal by wrapping a rubber band around the stems just below the foliage. Keep wrapped plants out of direct sunlight. Don’t let them sit in the car, including the trunk, overnight.

If you are sending plants through the mail that are potted, use bubble wrap to protect the pot and the roots. A collar of cardboard over the soil and around the base of the plant, followed by a plastic bag closed around the base of the plant will help keep the soil in the container.
