You are going to do it one day – walk up to your XK – operate the boot open button (car still locked) – put keys down in boot – pick up beers – slam boot shut – Oh BUGGA!!!!! With the keys in the boot you really are stuffed.
Is there a way to open the lock on a Jaguar?
As Astromorg pointed out the lock is mounted in the hatch cill so drilling through the door won’t work. He has posted a good ‘fallback’ arrangement for opening the hatch but it needs to be open to fit it. Similarly, FrankC has prepared a superb video on how to release the the lock – but only if you have it open in the first place.

Keyless entry in my 2010 XKR is a real boon, the fob stays in my pocket at all times. I’m a bit confused, (nothing new there then), I’ve locked my keys in the boot before but just gone inside the car and pressed the button which enables me to open it without leaving my seat.
Why does my car lock when I try to lock the door?
When “locking” the car with either the fob or the door buttons the door mirrors also stay folded out. The door locks clunk and all are secure except the driver’s. This opens when it shouldn’t but immediately activates the alarm if you try. Is this a broken lock motor of some kind?

How do you open the doors on a Jaguar?
If i unlock the car, with one or two clicks, then place the keys away from the car, all doors will open apart from the drivers door! When the fault first showed, this was exactly the same BUT the drivers door would open and not the passenger door! But if i hold the keys in my hand, I.E. use key-less entry, the doors all open!
How much does it cost to put a door lock on a Jaguar?
The lock assembly is about £100 retail, and it shouldn’t take more than an hour to fit. The door will open because you use the handle, this lifts the solenoid, it’s when you rely solely on the solenoid to work the lock it falls down, I’m assuming yours is keyless entry as is mine.
