How can I test my PTO clutch connection?
Your first test should be to measure the resistance of the PTO winding. Check your fuses and the circuit breaker for proper connections and verify that the TDCM connections at X23 and X22 are clean and not showing any corrosion or heat damage from excessive current.
When does a chain slap a clutch Rd?
Chain slap is when your RD arm and chain are bouncing enough for the chain to slap the chainstay bracket. This is obnoxious. Also when your chain is loose like that, it is easier for it to bounce off of your chain rings and make your day a living hell. A clutch RD eliminates the bounce. Take the same diagram as above with a Clutch RD.
How does the spring work on a Shimano clutch derailleurs?
Just get a new shifter and adjust the limit screw. The mechanism in the shimano derailleurs isn’t actually a stiffer spring but a band that goes around a peg that the cage is attached to. When you flip the switch it clamps the peg, making it harder to pivot the cage.
Why does a clutch Rd not move forward?
Take the same diagram as above with a Clutch RD. If you pushed the RD up and forwards, it wouldnt move. It is held in place by a small piece that prevents it from moving forward. This keeps your chain properly tensioned, preventing the chain slap and bounce.
What should the gap be on a PTO clutch?
Using feeler guages measure the gap between the adjusting stud head and the PTO clutch release mechanism. This measurement should be between 0.089 – 0.091 inches. To adjust the setting, slacken the lock nut, move adjusting stud, re-tighten lock nut and re-measure the gap. The photograph below clearly shows this – this tractor has been split.
How big is the gap between the clutch studs?
Once the clutch has been adjusted then the PTO clutch release studs can be checked/reset. Remove the access panel on the underside of the tractor clutch housing. Using feeler guages measure the gap between the adjusting stud head and the PTO clutch release mechanism. This measurement should be between 0.089 – 0.091 inches.
How do you check a Eaton Fuller clutch?
1. Apply the parking brakes, and chock the front tires. 2. Remove the clutch inspection cover from the bot- tom of the transmission clutch housing. See Fig. 1. NOTE: When checking release bearing clear- ance, remove the free travel by lightlypulling the release fork against the clutch release bear- ing. This eliminates any bearing movement. 3.
How does wear affect the clutch pedal free play?
As a tractor clutch is used, wear takes place naturally on the friction surfaces. This will affect the setting of the clutch pedal free-play which must periodically be corrected.
