i-ELOOP Indicator Light/Control Status Display The light turns on during power generation. If the engine is started after the vehicle has not been driven for a long period of time, the i-ELOOP indicator light may flash. Leave the engine idling and wait until the indicator light turns off.

Which Mazda has Eloop?

The system, which is available on the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, uses capacitors, rather than additional batteries, to recover and store energy when decelerating or braking; then it takes that stored energy and releases it to power vehicle accessories. Smarter than smart alternators?

What is IE loop?

i-ELOOP continuously recovers kinetic energy as the vehicle decelerates and reuses it as electricity. The electricity is then stored for later use. It can be used to power the headlights, climate control, audio system, or any other electrical equipment.

What is Q85 battery?

Amaron Q85 Enhanced Flooded Batteries (EFB) are designed to work with Mazda’s systems to help the car engine restart and restart again, trip after trip, month after month. And each time you start your engine, the car battery is being used.

What does Mazda I-Eloop do?

i-ELOOP continuously recovers kinetic energy as the vehicle decelerates and reuses it as electricity. Brake energy regeneration systems convert a vehicle’s kinetic energy into electricity as the car decelerates. It can be used to power the headlights, climate control, audio system, or any other electrical equipment.

How can I tell if my Mazda 6 i-ELOOP has it?

Under the drivers seat there is a black box with a caution symbol on it. If you have i-eloop you will have this box. It is responsible for converting the power in the capacitor to something useful that the car can use. Also underneath the driver side headlamp, you can see the top of the capacitor from there in front of the mud guard.

How does the Mazda i-ELOOP braking system work?

Follow us on @Ask_ICAR for daily updates. Beginning model year 2014, Mazda has introduced a regenerative engine braking system called i-ELOOP, short for “Intelligent Energy Loop.” In this system, a capacitor is used to store electrical energy generated during deceleration. In a conventional system when the vehicle slows or stops, energy is wasted.

What is the durability of the Mazda i-ELOOP battery?

The durability temperature of the i-ELOOP capacitor and Q85 battery is 185°F (85°C). Placing an i-ELOOP equipped vehicle in a properly used spraybooth will have no adverse effect on the i-ELOOP capacitor or Q85 battery.

How can I tell if my car has i-ELOOP?

I recently purchased a 2014 6 GT and it comes with the tech package. From my understanding, i-eloop is included in that package and trim. When I look online I see there is a menu in the instrument cluster that shows the charge and use of the i-eloop system… a menu which my car seems to be without.
