Do you replace Torx bolts with standard bolts?
BTW- The Chevy dealers replace the Torx bolts with the standard one’s also. Thanks for posting that. I was looking at the brakes on the truck and saw the torx head. Was wondering about just replacing them with a standard head. Torx are a pain. I have to pull 3 of them to replace wheel bearings in my car.
How big are caliper bushing pins on a jeep?
The Caliper bushing pins are allen head sockets, and use a proprietary size, none of the common sizes fit properly, but I was able to remove and install them using a 7/16″ allen key, even though it was loose in the socket I was able to get it done without damage. The next higher size, metric or standard was too big and wouldn’t fit.
What kind of bolts are on a Silverado brake caliper?
I just did the brakes on my 05′ Silverado, and the caliper bolts were a T55 Torx head bolt. Just a little FYI if you don’t want to reuse those rusty Torx head bolts, go to the auto parts store and buy a new set of bolts.
What kind of socket to remove rear brake caliper?
The caliper bolts often rust in place making them extremely difficult to remove. I snapped the head off of one trying to remove it, which required most of the suspension to be disassembled to remove the cast spindle to drill out the bolt.
How big of a socket do you need for brake pins?
Discussion in ‘ Touring Models ‘ started by soulshaker, Aug 22, 2009 . I can’t seem to find a socket for my 2004 ultra classic’s brake pad pins. I was told that it takes a 1/4″ 12 pt. socket, but the socket wall is too thick to fit over bolt. ( not enough space between bolt and caliper ) Is it a 12pt 1/4″ bolt or does it take a special wrench?
How much torque does a rear brake caliper have?
Reassembly in the book said 66lbs of torque plus a quarter turn, I do not know how that I can equate to 500lbs or more to break the thing loose. Yes, I agree VW are bastards, I am not enjoying the Triple square, Torx bolts, and Allen bolts that they are putting all over gods green cars.
