As it sat for 15 minutes the PC would drip enough fuel into the FP to start and ride for a minute until it used up the fuel. The getting hot part was just how long it took to use up the fuel in the fuel pump. To check this, simply remove the feeder hose from the PC and see if you have good steady flow. If not, start by cleaning the PC.

Swapped relays to check No improvement. Pump maybe? Or PGM-fi unit? Never any codes displayed!

Fortunately, the answer/fix to the problem is really very easy! The problem is caused by very heavy, stiff, gummy grease that was installed in the shift motor gears at the factory. Once that grease is removed and replaced with a different grease, you’ll be back to shifting normally!

Are there any problems with my Honda rancher 350es?
I have a 2002 Honda Rancher 350ES. It has 8200 miles on it ( i know…..tons of miles). The electric shift has given us more problems than we can handle. Here are the multiple situations we have with it: 1. When it actually does shift, there is a big delay in between gears, kind of like if you were driving a car and let off the clutch too slow.
