Can you compression test a rotary engine?
A compression test can be used to determine the condition of the apex, corner, and side seals of the rotary engine. Testing the cranking compression with the engine cold will most likely produce a false (higher than correct) reading. Remove all four spark plug wires to prevent the engine from firing.

How does compression work in a rotary engine?
This works in the following way: The engine Sucks in the required amount of fuel and air, squeeze s or “ compresses ” this into a smaller combustion chamber, ignites the fuel/air mixture which is where we get our bang, the gasses propel the rotor round and the exhaust gasses are blow n through the exhaust pipe.

When does compression occur in a rotary engine?
All engines, rotary or not, require compression to work. Compression is created during the compression cycle of an engine which happens after the fuel/air mixture has been sucked in and all ports (intake and exhaust) have closed, sealing off the combustion chamber.
