Can I use ATF Type T-IV?
1998 – Type T-IV Fluid This fluid replaces Type T-III, Type T-II and Type T fluids in all vehicles. All vehicles produced after 1993 with Automatic Transmissions specified to use ATF Type T, T–II and T–IV. (See Bulletin TC003–99). Type T-IV fluid is backward compatible with the previous Type T fluid.
Is Toyota ATF Type T-IV synthetic?
ATF TYPE T-IV is a fully synthetic automatic transmission fluid specially engineered to exceed the service fill requirement of all TOYOTA and LEXUS vehicles installed with AISIN WARNER gearboxes, where ATF T-IV fluid is recommended.
Is the Toyota ATF T-IV the same fluid?
It’s the same fluid as T-IV. Mobil makes T-IV. FWIW, try doing 4 drain fills with the T-IV with 20 miles of driving in between each DF. Your trans may smooth out a bit. That should give you 85% new fluid. I did my Lexus RX330 AW trans that way and now drain fill every 15,000 miles. At 145,000 miles it still shifts like new.
What kind of transmission fluid does a Toyota Tiv use?
Any Toyota trans with flex lockup (duty cycles linear solenoid at low speed and load) uses that fluid. Otherwise dexron III is used. The clutches and seals are the same. Using dexron in a TIV trans could cause shift flare, shock or lockup shudder.
Can you use T-IV fluid in older transmissions?
The advantage is that Autozone etc are open later at night, on weekends and may be closer to you. “The statement on the bottle of T-IV means that the new fluid can be used in older transmissions that used Dexron III, but it does not mean that you can use Dexron III in the newer transmissions that call for T-IV.” That makes sense.
What kind of transmission fluid does Toyota SRT4 use?
The manual transmission of the SRT4 showed no change either which I almost expected. This synthetic transmission fluid is supposed to last 2x longer, resist heat 2x better, and lubricate better than any of the factory options.
