Yes, you can. But it’s not usually economical to do so. You are better off selling your V6 car and buying the same model with a 4 cylinder version.

Then there’s all the wiring involved. Go with a better drivetrain so you have something better than another run of the mill 4.0L jeep with a hacked up install. In general, if you want the 4.0 (which is a great low end torque motor) sell the 4 banger and buy the I6. It will most likely be cheaper and better.

If you get a 4 replace with like year 4, same with a 6. my case, I had 3 years of engines that would work without much problems. do a search and you will find buches of info on engine swaps. good luck and welcome to the jeep world. You guys…this post is 4 years old!

Although the 4.0 is nearly indestructible though there are a select few years that could be troublesome (just do your hw first!) I think 00 or 01 was a year to avoid but tbh i forgot why. Never heard of the 05 and 06 having problems but if its true thank god i bought an 04
