Can a PWM program a Ford PCM module?
I have my genuine Drew Technologies Mongoose Pro Ford (PWM) J2534 programmer, which can only program some modules like the PCM… It only supports CAN Bus (capable of ISO 15765, GMLAN, and ISO14229), J1850PWM / SCP, and ISO9141 / KWP2000…
Can a vcm2 clone read a module?
It is nice the clone VCM2 can read modules on the other, two out of three, CAN networks newer Ford vehicles use such as Medium Speed CAN.
How does the PCM receive the battery voltage?
ADDITIONAL NOTES PCM receives battery voltage (B+) through a fuse or fusible link. Check for an open circuit. An open ground or power (B+) circuit on a fuel-injected engine removes power from the ECM and prevents the engine from starting.
Is the VCM II compatible with Ford IDs?
IDS detected the VCM II just fine, the lights light up correctly, but when I plugged it into my 2014 Ford Fusion it would not detect the PCM to establish any communication. Ans I did not know if it is necessary to reflash different software or downgrade.
When to replace your PCM ( and when not to )?
The onboard computer is the brains of the engine control system, so when the brain isn’t functioning correctly neither is the engine or anything else that the microprocessor controls – which may include the charging system, transmission, various emission controls and communications with other onboard control modules.
Why is my PCM not connecting to my scanner?
It takes a while to turn back on. Engine light blinking. Took to a mechanic. Scanner can’t establish connection with PCM on two different scanners. Now waiting for a 3rd scanner.
Can a PCM be installed in the same car?
Many PCMs appear to be exactly the same on the outside (same sized box and connectors) but may be wired or calibrated differently inside. If the wrong PCM is installed in a vehicle, it may run but probably won’t run well. Close enough isn’t good enough when it comes to replacing PCMs. It must be the correct replacement for the application.
