Can a Mazda transmission be replaced under warranty?
For *now*, you can get dead transmissions replaced under warranty (Mazda launched the investigation a few months after @glyphon, I and several other Sky owners suffered failed shift solenoids). In time, you will be pulling them from rear-ended Skys just like Speed owners look for dead Speeds.

I can personally attest to this – I let my buddy test drive my brand new Mazda3 with a manual transmission (35xx) miles on Skyline Drive in rural VA. After letting him cruise around for 50 miles or so (I had the pleasure of driving his Cayman) we switched cars and my tranny was whining like crazy.

I have tried asking my dealer and some local shops but all I get is a run around conversation that eventually leads to “I wouldn’t worry about it, you’ll be under warranty blah blah blah” or “this car is so new, I will have to get back to you” and they never do, so I call back weeks later and get the same story.
