07 FLTR 17K miles Oil Cooler and no problems except recently replaced rear header pipe due to crack at the Y second cylinder. Runs great 45 -50 MPG. 2007 FXD with 50k on the clock. Bought it brand new. Race tuner at 14k,oil cooler at 21k and installed 211’s cams,lifters,tensioner at 27k.

How is the reliability of a 96 engine?
Now that the 96 has been out for a few years how is the reliability? Hearing about oil pumps failing with .020″ crank runout etc etc etc. Is this engine basically solid or does it have inherent problems? I took delivery on my 2009 Road Glide with the 96″ motor August 21, 2009.

Those bikes come very lean and run very hot from the moco. o7 uLtra Clasic crank bearing oblitieration, trans mission bearing obliteration, loud clunks at start up,pinging and overheating,engine whine at all gears, repaired by HD except pinging and loud whine. 1 year of hoping for it to run better (not) 22000 miles and sold it.
