Are 350Z transmissions reliable?
They are stellar. I beat the living shit out of my trans and it handles it all day long. Even if a 5th gear grinds it’s not a big deal. From my experience if you take care of the gearbox (do fluid changes) and know how to drive, the early trans will treat you well.

Yes they are cheap and yes they are fun but for a newer driver the insurance will be higher, there’s no back seat so you won’t be cruising around with your friends, more than likely it’s been driven hard so expect some maintenance costs. Having owned one they are fun cars but for your first I’d get something bigger more reliable for your own sake.
