Why use a killflash?
A Killflash is positioned in the same way as a sunshade. It’s much shorter and much more effective. The price is usually higher than with a sunshade. It also prevents reflections of the outside of the lens, which is important in tactical situations.
How does an anti reflection device work?
A classic method of reducing reflection from an objective lens is by attaching a long sunshade. If long enough, the shade eliminates reflection unless the optic is pointed almost directly into the sun. The downside is bulk and slightly reduced light-gathering ability.

Do sniper scopes have glare?
The scope glint only appears on sniper rifles with a scope. So the ones with iron sights and the carbine with what people are referring to as ‘the WW1 style red dot’ even though it isn’t a red dot, won’t have scope glint. It also only appears if the person using the rifle is actively looking through their scope.

Can you really see a sniper glint in real life?
For clarification, the glint only appears with long range scopes. Any rifle carrying the title, ‘Marksman’ uses the long range scope. The ‘Sharpshooter’ rifles use the box shaped scope and do not give a glint.
Do Snipers have glints?
Battlefield has introduced this mechanic ever since Battlefield 3, where high-powered scopes, particularly sniper scopes, produce a visible glint from long distances. The glint/laser sight extends from their rifles all the way to their intended target, and briefly disappears when the sniper fires a shot.
What does a scope sunshade do?
Think of glare as stray light which did not originate from the target. Even when the sun is not directly on the scope you will have stray light. Minimizing the stray light helps your eyes take advantage of the light that comes from the target.
Why is there sniper glint?
In Stealth-Based Games, snipers having their scopes glint is usually meant to help players either sneak under the watchful eye of an enemy sniper, or for them to stealthily sneak up and kill their adversary, or alternatively counter-snipe them if the player is themselves armed with a Sniper Rifle.
