Why is my Saturn Ion not turning off?
The problem with the Saturn ION’s not turning off, I.E. ignition will not turn to the off position is with the lock cylinder. Specifically the retaining clip that holds the tumblers and springs in place. I just replaced a lock cylinder on my girlfriends car because the only way she could stop the engine was to stall out her manual transmission.

How to reset a security system on a Saturn Ion?
To reset the system, get in the car and shut the door. Turn the key on to the “Run” position without cranking the engine. Leave the key there for exactly 10 minutes. Turn the key to the off position without removing it and back to “Run” for 10 more minutes.
