Why is my generator leaking gas from the air filter?
A generator will leak gasoline from the air filter assembly if there is an improper seal being made with the float needle valve seat in the carburetor. An improper seal will cause the gasoline to keep filling up the carburetor bowl and eventually overflow up into the throat of the carburetor and out the air filter.
Why is gas coming out of my carb?
The carbs have hoses that gas will leak from if there is a problem with them. A stuck float valve will cause your overflow tube to drip gas when the petcock is on. Also, if your gas tank is overfilled or on a hot day, sometimes gas can come out of that overflow tube as well.

I put drain plug back in and it was still overflowing. HELP! Float level not set correctly. I removed the carb and decided to replace the gasket ( probably not needed) in wasn’t leaking from the gasket.
What to do when your carb leaks fuel?
Second You will most likely have to pull the carb again to unstick float/ replace needle or o ring. Before you pull it off though you might try tapping on the side of the carb with something heavy but soft like a wooden/soft plastic screwdriver handle. Don’t go all slam happy but firmly tap on the side of the bowl.
