Why is my ABS light and parking brake light on?

Why is my ABS light and parking brake light on?

If both the ABS and brake system light come on at the same time, your vehicle is no longer safe to drive. This means there is a serious problem with the braking system, and continuing to drive puts yourself and others at risk of a car crash. This is completely normal and it means the ABS system is working normally.

What does a blinking parking brake light mean?

This light is the parking brake warning light. It illuminates to show that the parking brake or emergency brake is engaged and must be released before driving. If it remains lit after the parking brake is released or if it turns on and off intermittently while you’re driving, it means you need to add brake fluid.

Can a parking brake light be activated by ABS?

Usually, the brake fluid level sensor and the parking brake are the only two items that can activate the BRAKE light. But, not all vehicles are the same, and some of the earliest ABS systems would trigger both lights simultaneously for any ABS fault.

What does it mean when your abs light comes on?

Most commonly, this light is triggered by low brake fluid or an engaged parking brake. However on some vehicles, it can simply indicate a problem elsewhere in the system and can be illuminated immediately if there is an ABS fault.

Where is the parking brake light switch located?

that switch only turns on the parking brake light. even if it fails, it doesn’t cause the abs light to go on. It may be that the ground for the ABS computer needs cleaning/fixing. It is located on the ‘wing’ off the frame, right under the drives door.

Why does my parking brake light keep going on?

Have a family member that has this on Chevy 1500, emergency brake problem and I believe they had to cut the emergency cable.. There is NO way the emergency brakes can cause either the ABS or parking brake light to go on. It is literally a completely separate system from the regular disc brakes.
