Why does the parking brake on my W203 not latch?
The parking brake on my 2003 W203 has never worked correctly since I have had the car, it has always been reluctant to disengage. Now it will not latch when I press the pedal and the pedal requires more effort to depress than before

How do you remove a parking brake cable?
You remove it by pulling on the black part of the cable first then you pull down on the cable. If you need to change the handle then you will need to remove the cable from the parking brake release handle. All you need to do is rotate the cable and pull it up. Next remove the two torx bolts shown in the picture circled in red.

As you extract the retaining pin be careful to not hit the brake heat shield. If you hit the shield you may bend it and cause it to make noise when you drive. Use a screwdriver to press the brake cylinder into the caliper.
Where is the cable for the parking brake?
In the W203 the cable is under the rear seat dead center. I am really needing help to find that cable now in my car so I can put a bit more tension on the parking brake so it will spring back up. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
