Is there a problem with the stop screw on Polaris Sportsman 500?
Its worth to mention that i know of one other identical machine and year (Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI year 2007) that had the same problem with the stop screw, so maybe this is a common problem of that model and year. Thanks for advices i got in this forum during the process!

Why does my Polaris Sportsman 500 not idle?

It died when i released the throttle, sometimes this happened immediately or after a few seconds of idle. 2. Sometimes the idle stuck at around 1600 rpm and did not come down to correct level about 1140 rpm. 3.

Why is my Polaris Sportsman 500 overheating?
If the Sportsman 500 engine is overheating, it may be that there is debris stuck in the screen. The debris must be removed prior to further operation. It is also possible that the radiator is plugged. An owner can take care of this by using a garden hose to wash debris from the radiator fins.
What should I do if my Polaris Sportsman 500 backfires?
For three other potential problems (a clogged fuel filter, water/fuel in the crankcase or mechanical failure), Polaris recommends that owners see a Polaris dealer. If the engine backfires, it is possible that there is a weak spark, an incorrect spark plug gap, old or waterlogged fuel, or loose ignition connections.
When to call the dealer on a Polaris Sportsman 500?
In that case, a rider should allow the engine to fully warm up before operation. A dealer should be consulted if there is a clogged fuel filter, a reverse speed limiter malfunction, worn/defective spark plug wires, electronic throttle control malfunction or any kind of mechanical failure.
Can a Polaris Sportsman run with a choke on?
2000ish Polaris Sportsman 500, 4-stroke. It had been put up for a while ( a few months), it wouldn’t start when i went to get it out. Finally got it started with starter fluid and it’d only idle with the choke on, choke off it’ll run, but pops, doesn’t run well and won’t idle.

Why is my spark plug not working on my Polaris?
As you get to higher RPM’s, the problem gets worse as the arcing is causing the spark plug to not fire consistently or enough. It can load up the plug and foul it.
What should the idle speed be on a Polaris Ranger?
I turn the turn buckle on the throttle cable that is approx 6″ from the throttle but it doesn’t change the rpm’s. Some other adjustment needed? Idle speed is usually around 1200 rpm +or- a few for most motors. I don’t know the specs for the 700 though. Idle speed on fuel injected models is controlled by the computer and is not adjustable.
Why is the RPM gauge on my Polaris not working?
Maybe it’s the sender in the wheel not sending the message ❓ 💡 So you are saying the speedo works but not the tach ❓ The wheel sender would be just for speed but the tach has to be fed off the engine somewhere. Flywheel ❓ Does anyone know where to start looking for the fix to RPM gauge not working?
Where does the RPM come from on a Polaris Ranger?
I talked with my Polaris tech and he wasn’t sure where it gets rpm from without getting machine and calling Polaris hot line. Click to expand… Since the ECU controls the ignition timing, from signals received from the CPS, the RPM’s displayed on the Tachometer probably come from the ECU.

How many volts does a Polaris Ranger Club have?
Y1 to Y2 and Y1 to Y3 are the same output but Y2 to Y3 are way off it jumps around from 5 volts low to 10 volts higher then the other two. I also tested the voltage at the battery and when motor is revved up it puts out 13.7 volts, and that is enough for the battery to stay charged.
