Why does my Polaris headlight keep blowing?
To the situation at hand, i purchased a 98 xc 600 earlier this year and had to update a few things to enable my safe riding. All went well except for the fact that my damn headlight bulb keeps blowing. At first the bulb would go along with the rest of the gauges and taillights. Easy enough fix…new regulator right?

People who believe that have very little understanding of physics. If you contact hot dry glass with anything cold it will shatter, but you can put any kind of material on the glass while it’s cool, and the material will heat up along with the glass and not cause any problems. we are getting off topic here guys!

Can you test the voltage of Polaris headlights?
To test this you could test the voltage of the headlights with a multimeter. Have a friend give it gas while your testing it. I believe it shouldn’t exceed 12. Here’s the best part, electronics are non-returnable at the dealers and you have no way of proving that the regulator you bought was defective.

I have a 2000 Polaris Sport Touring 550 that is giving me fits. Keeps blowing bulbs. I replaced the voltage regulator (aftermarket, not Polaris), and I thought is was fixed.

Replaced the voltage regulator with an aftermarket one, and the headlights kept blowing. After hours and hours of screwing with it I finally gave up a brought it to a shop. They replaced it with an OEM regulator and it has been fine ever since. They said the aftermarket regulators are garbage.
