Why does my Ford Ranger have no reverse?
After that incident took it home and parked it. Did some research and the 5R55E transmissions that came with my truck (Not sure which trans you have) has a known problem with one of the pistons that helps direct fluid wearing out and causing pressure loss which means no reverse and poor shifting between 1st and 2nd.
What are the most common problems with a Ford Ranger?
All solenoids are subject to failure. The two most likely to fail are the transmission pressure control solenoid and the torque converter solenoid. All of the solenoids can be easily checked with an ohm meter. The reading on a good functioning solenoid should be around 20 to 30 ohms.
What causes no 2nd gear on Ford 4R55E?
A low reading means that there is most likely a short in the internal wiring and no reading means the wire is broken. In either case, the solenoid will need to be replaced with a new one. 2) No 2nd or 4th gear: This is often caused by the solenoid regulator valve being out of position.
Why is my Trans fluid low in my Ford Ranger?
Check you trans fluid could be low I hate to say but mine did something similar here recently and I had to replace the valve body not sure on what transmission you have but the 5r55e’s have a fairly known problem with one of the valves in the transmission going bad. Causing problems with shifting.
What happens when you put a Ford Ranger in reverse?
Same story, same thing happend to me. Came into a paring lot, put it in reverse, started to back up, moved back like 3 feet, Heard a bang, thought I hit something, drove forward a bit. Got out, nothing there to hit. Got back in, put back in reverse, it wouldn’t move.
Are there any issues with the 2008 ranger XP 700?
I just bought a 2008 Ranger xp 700 with about 120 hours on it. I’ve taken it out a few times and it has 2 issues that I’m hoping you could help me out with- 1) It didn’t idle well when I bought it but wasn’t to big of a deal at the time. Now that I’m using it I find that I would like to fix that problem but not sure how.
Why is the idle on my Polaris Ranger so low?
I sprayed carb cleaner around throttle body and no idle change. Any idea on why the idle is low? 2) The belt separated while trail riding so I took it home and replaced the belt with the right OEM belt. Now it doesn’t shift while running but shifts fine when it is off.

When does the transmission go out on a Ford Ranger?
Transmission went “bang” when I put it into reverse, after that, reverse didn’t work. Ammco states the transmission is bad. I’ve been told for years now by other Ford truck owners that their transmission went out around 40,000 miles, mine died at 60,. Even Ford’s sales people have asked me about the transmission.
Is the Ford Ranger hard or delayed shifting?
Had a little girl and she just turned one, that has taken most of my free time. The delay in reverse happens every time, as does the harsh delayed shift. Honestly I think it got worse in two weeks of sitting in my driveway. The fluid level is spot on.
Why is my Transman not working on my Ford Ranger?
Don’t assume because the trans is not slipping in 1st gear at a dead stop the transmission is trouble-free. Also consider that the transmission could have been abused by the previous owner who then changed the fluid in a forlorn hope that fresh fluid would cure the problem. When it did not, off the truck goes to become someone else’s headache.

How many gears does a Ford Ranger have?
4R44E / 4R55E – The name 4R44E means 4 forward gears, rear-drive platform (or 4WD, with a different tailshaft housing), rated for 440 ft/lb torque (after torque converter multiplication) and electronic shifting. 4R55E is the same but heavier duty and rated for 550 ft·lbs.
When to replace a transmission on a Ford Ranger?
The 4R55E is no exception. If you find yourself in the position where you need to replace a 4R55E transmission, I highly recommend you consider replacing it with a re-manufactured transmission over one that has had a simple rebuild. Like all things mechanical, a transmission will not last forever, regardless of how well you take care of it.

Are there transmission problems with the Ford A4LD?
The A4LD is the single worst transmission out there. They are notorious for failing well before 100,000 miles even with proper maintenance. It sounds to me like you’re having valve body problems. The first place to start would be with a proper tranny flush, filter replacement, and new fluid. The 2 bands should also be adjusted.
Can you shift from P to D in Ford A4LD?
You cannot shift from [P] to [D] and expect it to work. You have to shift from [P] to [R], let it engage – then shift to [D], otherwise you just hear some spinning in the tranny, but nothing engages. Second… when engine is cold and gear selector is in [D] it will not shift out of first, so you have to manually shift until it warms up.
