Why does my bike idle so high?

A motorcycle idles high when it is getting too much of an air and fuel mixture in a low speed or neutral position. This is usually caused by the idle screw on the carburetor being out of adjustment, an out of place throttle handle screw, a bad carburetor throttle spring, or a sticky throttle or throttle cable.

Can a CRF150R start with a high idle?

NOPE. Starting with idle high enough to start, bike seems to run well until I blip the throttle. Idle hangs and stays. If I drop the idle while its hanging, bike usualy dies and will not start until I raise the idle again.

Can a CRF150R be left in the driveway?

It can be a delicate balance of idle speed and fuel screw sometimes. A fully heatede bike, I tiny adjustment, a short ride and check for the bike returning to a proper idle. You cannot just leave it stand in the driveway as you fiddle with the fuel screw and idle speed.

Is the CRF150R a’07 or’07 jet?

If it’s an ’07 then they did have idling problems. I’ve had two of them and neither liked to idle. I did go up slightly on the pilot jet, and that did help.

Is the TPS on a CRF150R in Spec?

TPS is in spec and adjusted correctly. Unplugged has no effect. As a last resort I tore the head apart to inspect valve-train and the right intake had some cupping so I sent the head to Ken for his KW valve job. Also putting in a new piston and cam chain while I’ve got it apart.
