Why do sensors go bad?

How Sensors Get Damaged. When other components aren’t working correctly they can damage the sensors. For instance, the coolant sensor may be damaged if the engine overheats. However, normal wear and use can also cause a sensor to fail, often seen with the throttle position sensor.

Are there any issues with the Guardian sensor?

I’ve had the Guardian sensors with the 670 pump for a few months and recently I’ve been having a lot of issues relating to calibrations. I put the sensor in, wait for it to warm up, then calibrate. It works fine until it asks for another calibration and then it won’t accept this one.

Can you get 7 days out of a sensor?

I started last fall with the new 7 day sensors, but I have never gotten 7 days out of them. Usually they fail on the 4th or 5th day. I actually had one that made it to the 6th day, but never had one make it to 7 days. I really like the closed loop system when it works, but when it doesn’t, it just angers me.

Are there any sensors that don’t work?

Couldn’t get their sensors to stick and if they’re not on they won’t work. Tried their brand of sensors and they were horrible! This was four years ago but since then I’ve very successfully used the g4 and g5 dexcom sensors. They are far superior! Couldn’t get their sensors to stick and if they’re not on they won’t work. Why is my throttle position sensor not working?

The reason this happens is that the ECM doesn’t get correct information from the TPS as to how much to throttle the car. Idle surging can be caused due to other issues in the car, but if it happens in conjunction with other throttle position sensor symptoms, the culprit is often the TPS.

How long does it take for a sensor to update?

The good news is it did not take 3 hours for it to update. It asked for a BG after about 45 minutes, so we entered that and it was up and running again. Last week it took 3 hours (from 12am to 3 am) for it to update and told us the sensor needed to be replaced (it was on day 6 of the sensor).

Why is my 670G sensor not updating?

For me, it seems to be due to either: end of life of a sensor (day 6 or 7) or the sensor is starting to come loose (adhesive starting to fail due to humidity, water or sweating). I’ve just recently had to replace my 670g due to a technical problem. The replacement has been much better.

How often should I replace my Guardian sensor?

Just my observations… Actually, the Enlite sensors are good for 6 days, not 5. And I consistently get anywhere from 10 to 15 days out of each one. Of course, to do so you must be careful how you tape them on, so you can disconnect, recharge, and replace after each 6 days.
