Why are my dash lights flashing and gauges fluttering?
Eventually it no longer would keep the battery charged. Since replacing it its been running fine since, other than this new issue. These instrument clusters are essentially computers getting digital messages from other vehicle computers which tells what to set the needles at and which lights to light.
Why does my dash odometer flicker so much?
There does seem to be a correlation to the quick flickering of the dash odometer and parking indicators. These will flicker really quickly, and I know the gauges are probably going to start fluttering. If the flickering clears up, usually no fluttering for awhile.
Why does my mileage gauge flicker so quickly?
Within the last week or so, we have been experiencing this problem. The gauges and some of the dash lights flicker quickly. The mileage and parking indicator displays also seem to sorta flicker quickly. I’ve attached a video of it in action.
Why is my speed ODM gauge not working?
The cause of problem: bad connection under fuse box going to hazard circuit. The connection plug pins had some corrosion on them. This allowed voltage to travel through that circuit but not enough current.

What causes a flashing light on the speedometer?
When I switch the turn signal (right or left) it seems to trigger an instability in the instrument cluster (speedometer panel). The instrument panel lights flash; the seat-belt light lasts the longest; and (if it is engaged) the cruise control lurches, momentarily.

Why does my WDB 500SL flash erratically?
Chassis No. WDB FA66E5 LF 005675 Agreed – the flash sequence for gauges and lights is different. Agreed – each time the unit is pulled and replugged, it behaves slightly differently. Agreed – sometimes a bump can trigger this, sometimes the turn signal.

Why do I get dash flash on my Mercedes?
You, my friend, have just encountered the dreaded Mercedes Benz Dash Flash. It happens to your early R129-bodied cars, like the 300SL or 500SL built before 1994 or so. It happens because they start to get old. It doesn’t matter if your car was garaged and pampered or driven every day and left outside. It is only a matter of time.
What was the old cap on my 500SL?
I’ve just replaced the 470uF capacitor with in the instrument cluster on my 91 500SL. It has solved the problem of the instrument gauges going crazy when using the turn signal. The old cap. measured 300pF.
