Can a dt466e cylinder head be rebuilt?
About two months ago I purchased a 2003 International 4300 flatbed rollback with a DT466E. The guy that I bought it from had a driver that ran it hot and cracked the head. So when I got it the head was off. I put an inframe rebuild kit in it & new cylinder head.
Is the DT 466 engine viscous or air operated?
I run DT 466 right up 1050-1100 EGT and never had too much of a problem but its also intercooled so that makes big difference Thought of one more thing, does it have a viscous fan drive on it or air operated. If it’s viscous run the engine and get it hot, pop the hood and check and see if the fan is locked up or turns freely.
What to do about oil leak in coolant?
Do not use stop leak, gums up everything, mechanic in a can!Plugs up heater core and rad cores so don’t use it.As I said before, check the oil cooler. could you disconnect an oil line there and pressurize the coolant and hear or see a leak?
Can a air compressor transfer oil into an oil cooler?
Possible oil cooler rotten thus oil with transfer into coolant, just a thought depending on mileage.I had to replace a few oil coolers for that reason! I would check the oil cooler as well. Your air compressor would have to be complete junk to get that kind of oil in there. I would guess it would be the oil cooler.
