Is there a problem with my Chevy 2500 transfer case?
Transfer case develops hole from pump inside on my 2004 chevy 2500 hd duramax. Sounds like this is a very common problem with gm owners with this type of transfer case. Its being called the infamous pump rub. Sounds like gm is ignoring this problem. This should not be happening on vehicles this new with little miles on them.

How to remove oil pump from GMC Truck?
Front of motor disassembly. Then open end wrench and lots if patience to get the single bolt out of the pickup tube. Being careful not to drop it into the pan. Then a small cut off wheel on Dremel to cut spot weld on pickup tube bolt tab. Rotate bolt tab 180° and use the other hole in newly installed pump to secure the pickup tube.
Do you need transfer case fluid for GMC Duramax?
Not true. The 1500 cases with Auto 4WD capability require the blue GM AutoTrak fluid. None of the HD’s have those transfer cases. It won’t hurt to run AutoTrak, but it calls for ATF. So if I switch to Mobil 1 for the transmission I can use the same stuff in the xfer case.
How often should I replace my oil pump on my GMC Silverado?
4” lift on 35”s and a few mods. So I consider myself a competent garage mechanic. I’ve had 3 silverados, this being my fourth so obviously I love them. Anyway I’m replacing the oil pump in a couple saturdays and honestly it’s a bit outside my comfort zone but I ain’t no pus.
