2005, metal fuel neck. I can see in with no flap or sign there ever was a flap. I’ve seen this issue crop up before in other threads. People suggested a clogged EVAP system or a kink in the fuel filler hose.

Why did they put Flapper on fuel nozzles?

To prevent “unleaded” vehicles from being filled with leaded fuel it was mandated that the manufacturers install a restricted filler on the cars and fuel nozzles were required to be reduced in size to match. The spring loaded flapper was part of the restricting filler system. 2 Likes

Why is the fuel tank flap not opening?

Can’t open fuel tank flap on VW Golf – seem like the spring is not releasing when pressing at the rear of the tank flap. Is there another release system?
