The CPS is located on the driver’s side of the bell housing for 4.0 engines, and on the passenger’s side for the 5.2 and 5.9 engines.

The Crankshaft Position Sensor is mounted on the transmission bellhousing.
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Remove spark plug cable loom at right rear valve cover.
- Disconnect two hoses at EGR valve.
- Disconnect electrical connector and hoses at EGR transducer.
- Remove EGR mounting bolts and remove valve.

I purchased this MOPAR CPS because after 30 years of building Jeeps you learn that the cheap aftermarket CPS are junk. However this one was a failure out of the box. Completely rebuilt everything in the Jeep, new motor, axles, trans, etc…installed all new sensors and ECM, Jeep would crank and run for a few minutes and die.
