The West Highland Way leads from the southern edges of the Highlands into the heart of the Ben Nevis mountain range. It begins in Milngavie, a suburb just outside of Glasgow and ends in Fort William, the gateway to the Western Highlands.

The best part is the north section after Bridge of Orchy to Fort William, especially Glencoe and Devils Staircase. To walk Bridge of Orchy to Fort William takes 16 – 21 hours depending on speed.

The West Highland Way was the first official Long Distance footpath in Scotland. The West Highland Way is very clearly marked and the route makes use of old railway tracks and drovers road so the route is never overly difficult.
How well marked is the West Highland Way?
