When does a Harley Davidson bike start cold?

When does a Harley Davidson bike start cold?

When cold the bike starts fine. Never a problem or hint of a problem when cold. Even when “just hot” it is never a problem either. But when fully heat soaked (right off the freeway, then a couple of traffic lights to the gas station), there is no telling what your in store for. I know the rings are sealing good.

What’s the hard set regulation point on a Harley?

Generally speaking, 14.6 volts is a hard set regulation point on most 12 volt systems such as a Harley. Basically, this does not allow the regulator to send voltage to the battery any higher than 14.6 volts.

What causes a Harley Davidson starter to kick out?

I hit the starter and the engine turned about a half a revolution and stopped with the same sound of a dead battery. The starter did push through it but after about 1/2 of a revolution, the engine kicked back as if the timing was too advanced. That caused the starter pinion to kick out of the ring gear which resulted in the starter grinding.

What kind of motorcycle starts when it’s Hot?

My 2009 96 CI Ultra Classic has starting issues (some times) when it’s hot. Symptoms: Sounds like gears grinding sometimes. Other times it takes a couple of attempts and seconds to start. I did a search and found a few people here that have the same issue but with no fix.

Why does my Harley Davidson hesitate to start?

It sounds like gears grinding. When it does try to start it will hesitate as if the battery is weak. When it is at ambient temp it will crank right up. You sound convinced it is the compensator. Gears grinding=bad compensator. ?? How do you figure that. If you let off start button for even a nano second, it will grind pinion gear.
