How to fix misfire in 1.9 TDI PD?
Problem appearing unevenly. (usualy when engine is cold) Engine fault codes: P1666 and P0301. Very cheap and easy way. With this step by step video, you can do it with simple hand tools. Only new part that you will need is new rocker cover gasket.

Why does my diesel misfire at 1300 rpm?
At mid range rev (1300-1800 rpm) in any gear the car will intermitently misfire/ cutout, but if you drop a gear and drive her hard it doesnt do it. Or drive hard through that rev band. Only when your crusing along she arses about.
What was the problem with my 1994 Passat TDI?
I’ve posted on here before about the misfire that has beset my 1994 Passat 1.9 TDI estate ever since just after I boasted on here how well it was running!! At first the suspect problem was the connector for the MAF unit, as the engine had cut to default mode once or twice and been restored to normal by fiddling with the connector.
What to do if your car has a misfire?
Placed a strong piece of plastic sheeting tightly over the filler neck, secured in place with an elastic band, and made a small hole in the plastic. Drove to work and back, a distance of 30 miles. MISFIRE CURED! So simple! The vent valve on the cap must have become blocked, but I can’t get it to pieces to unblock it so I must buy a new one.
Why is my IDI diesel engine so noisy?
I do appreciate a normal cold IDI diesel engine is noisy but this is +30% extra. It ‘seems’ to be coming from the engine rather than the pump – as if a pump setting/problem is causing the knock rather than anything physical within the pump. Hard to tell though. I just wanted to be sure I’d eliminated the possibilites before I fit the head back on.
