I would bleed the system by cracking the banjo bolt at fuel entry to pump and prime until fuel bleeds out, tighten that and do the same with the return banjo and tighten, then remove glow plugs and crank engine until mist appears through glow plug holes.

If your Patrol is getting hot then you are mad if you continue to drive it,get it sorted,take it to a garage and check the entire cooling system and change out that Rad,it will be worth it & as someone mentioned check the viscous hub too.

Around town no issues with temp even with 40 deg traffic and A/C on but put it on 115km cruise control and up a hill temp gauge goes 3/4. back off to 100km, back to just under 1/2 where it always sat. 20,000km ago I put in a new engine from Nissan for $6500 with new thermostat and waterpump.

Why is my Nissan ZD30 overheating under load?
About 12 months ago my 03 ZD30 with 250 odd k on it started overheating under load, which it had never done before in 200k of driving. Overheating was accompanied by slight power loss too I think. About 10,000k before this I had replaced water pump, thermostat and had the radiator cleaned and rodded.
