What’s the normal temp for an EFI Sportster?

One forum member said the “book” number for a EFI Sportster is around 284°. Is there something wrong with my FP3 numbers, or is my bike running too hot, or are the temp readings I’m getting normal for my bike? I’ve seen temps in the mid to high 300’s since I bought the bike new last year.

What should the idle speed be on a Harley Davidson?

If you have a tachometer, check the idle speed against it. The specification is 1,050 RPM. It is really important to idle the bike around that speed as the oil pump does not produce enough flow to protect the engine at lower speeds. Test ride and enjoy!

What should idle speed be on Harley Davidson Sportster?

Evo Motors should idle at a minimum of 700 rpm and Twin Cams at 900 rpm—they sound great idling at lower revs than this, but it can cause premature wear on your valve train. This article does NOT cover idle mixture—that is something else—we are just looking at simple idle speed adjustment here.

When does idle come back to normal on a Harley Davidson?

Just seems to happen when I’ve been running at a fairly wide open throttle maintaining higher speeds for a while (fwy) or longer stints (catching all green lights) on the streets at a speed of about 45 or more. It always seems to come back to a normal idle after getting back into first gear when stopped, or when I start going again in 1st.

What happens when you hard start a Harley Davidson?

Get back and more will depend on your findings.. I would NOT throw Major parts at it unless necessary…. You can spend a ton of money to only find the Least expensive things are the problems.. Hard starting when HOT, but the engine spins up fine, means either lack of fuel or weak, no spark.
