What should the oil pressure be in a Nissan 350Z?
Same thing when I do an acceleration, from start to 60mph (each gear to 5000/5500RPM), never more than 60/65psi, – Engine cold, just turned on, the pressure is about 90psi, and decrease rapidly to 30/40psi. I already saw technical information from Nissan about oil pressure : But do you think that my oil pressure is a little bit low ? And yours ?
What should my oil pressure read at idle?
As more power is applied to the engine via acceleration, the pressure builds up inside the engine. High oil temperature can cause low oil pressure. A defective oil pump can also lead to low oil pressure at idle. Likewise, what is the normal oil pressure? Ideally, oil pressure should be between 25 to 65 psi when the oil is warm.
How can you tell if your oil pressure is too low?
Oil pressure gauge reading too low, generally below 15 to 20 PSI while idling. Cold weather can also make the oil pressure read low until the oil pump has had a chance to deliver the oil to the engine. Oil pressure gauge reading too high, or over 80 PSI while driving, especially at higher RPMs.
What should your oil pressure be when your car is cold?
When mine is cold the pressure is about 90-100, but takes a while to come down to normal (the oil takes longer to reach normal temperature than the coolant, around 3-5 miles steady driving). How quickly does yours drop? It then should sit at around 60 when you’re doing 60 mph in 6th gear (which is about 2500 rpm I think).

What should oil pressure be on a Twin Cam 88?
Once it is warmed up and under load it shows 20 psi. and it has gone to 5-10 psi and come back up again. At idle it shows 0 psi. Is this something I should be worried about or is it normal for a Twin Cam 88. If you could shed any light on this matter I would greatly appreciate it. Those oil pressure numbers are typical for your m/c.

What should the pressure be on an oil pump?
As long as the oil level is okay your pressures are fine – they vary with temperature and also grade of oil used (and your gauge may be not that accurate anyway). If the pressure is high on start up and doesn’t drop to 0 then the pump is doing its job.
