Keep continuously pumping while they cycle cranking the engine then letting it rest. You will feel the primer get “soft” while they are cranking, then it should get firm when it’s not cranking. Once the high pressure pump sucks enough fuel to pressurize the rails I bet you get it to fire right up. Shouldn’t take more than 3-4 cranking cycles.
