Is the BMW 1150 GS a factory upgrade?
I jumped on the 2000 1150GS model I found, after lurking here and figuring it this way. The 1100 had been around for years and there were known issues, some even recognized by BMW. So the 2000 1150 was really just a factory upgrade of the 1100.

Why are the Dual plugs on a BMW 1150?
Many have the opinion that the dual plugs were implemented to ‘fix’ surging. BMW never claimed that. And it hasn’t. The secondary plugs help combustion and on the hexheads it helps with pinging and engine knocking. Surging can be minimized by careful tweaking of all engine adjustments.
