59 people found this helpful. Something grounded out and prob shorted a inline fuse so when you turn the key to run you hear your fuel pump Prime the line but when you crank the motor starts then dies. It has to do with your gin. Or ecu. Pcm not telling the pump to fun.
99 Z-71 with a 350 5.7. Starts and runs fine and then all of the sudden. Yesterday morning it starts and dies after about 1 second, started it again and same results. It does this several times. After about 30 mins of trying and talking to it a while it started and ran fine.

What to do when your GMC Truck won’t start?
Try turning your key to the run position a few times (with out starting). Then try to start it. If it starts, sounds like what mine did. I replaced the fuel pump assembly and that fixed the problems. Very common problem.
