How do you remove a Softail tire on a Harley Davidson?
Use your rubber mallet to tap the axle from the left side of the wheel, pushing it to the right. As you’re tapping it, push the wheel up and towards the bike to help the axle come off. Can a wider rear tire run the drive belt?
Wider rear tires have a potential to run the fender or the drive belt. If the fender clearance is fine, really check closely on the belt clearance. Some Softail models used a wider drive belt and if this is the case, you need to maintain at least a 1/8″ clearance from the belt to the tire.
