Since the two currently available gas engine options of Jeep Grand Cherokee have different gas recommendations and my car is a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland with 5.7L Hemi, I want to make this thread to be specific to that engine.

I agree with Tim that your engine will be happy with 87 octane. The engines available for the 2014 Gran Cherokee have variable valve timing, this effectively allows the compression ratio to be changed.

I too notice different fuel brands effect the performance and feel in the vehicle. I am a Shell Vpower guy, however since I bought it i’ve been using only Chevron with Techron.

If you have the V6 87 is all you need. Anything more is like throwing dollar bills out. The Hemi recommends 89 for Ultimate performance. I put 89 in the Hemi. I only use 87 octane. No performance complaints at all and I’m not really interested in turning my Jeep into a rocket ship.

Can you use ethanol in a Jeep Grand Cherokee?
While ethanol is hygroscopic in nature and its properties enable it to absorb more water than pure gasoline, the standard 10% content is not great enough for this to be an issue, or cause corrosion. You would have to leave your car parked for months on end for there to be a chance of an issue.
