I bought my 2003 Kia Sorento EX 4×4 automatic brand new in 2003. I was the original owner and as of this posting (2017) had $130K. I’ve since sold the Sorento in favor of a Toyota 4Runner because the new Sorento is no longer a body-on-frame truck platform.
Why did my Kia Sorento stop shifting to 4×4?
The transfer case stopped shifting into 4×4 due to lack of use, but still operated in 4×2 mode. One engine sensor needed replacing, along with normal hoses, and the fuel temperature senor and thermostat which I replaced myself. It also needed new shocks, which is normal for the age.

When does Kia Sorento engine shut down while driving?
CarComplaints.com Notes: There are just too many engine stalls or shuts down while driving reports to feel good about the Sorento. Especially when those things happen, on average, at just over 32,000 miles. Hopefully things will change. No one has added a helpful site for this 2013 Sorento problem yet. Be the first!

Is there a recall on 2013 Kia Sorento?
Called Kia this morning and there is a recall, but it has to meet all the criteria to be fixed, and because I didn’t have it towed to Kia, they will not pay for towing, Next car is American made!! I too own a 2013 Sorento. Driving down the freeway the car just shuts down. Had it towed to a repair shop and was told I needed a new motor.
